Few Months Passed

And I kept sewing.
Charity Xmas stockings - 80pcs total. Fabric was a donation for the purpose. They made underprivileged kids happy as they got filled with sweets for Santa´s delivery -

Jacket for myself, however this time I skipped the front darts (unlike here).

Machine Embroidery

Prepping for Easter - door hanger (on theme for the 52-Week Sewing Challenge) and a set of toy food for the kids. I didn´t realize that smaller scraps of fabric can be used so good for stuff like this. I should remind myself though not to enter the rathole by keeping all the tiny bits and pieces of leftovers. Stitching these takes a lot of time - about an hour on average per piece. However these are in-the hoop designs which mean I don´t need to do anything else than removing the stabilizer when stitching is done.

It's not used as often as my sewing machines but I have a lot of fun with my embroidery machine too. I made a picture for the kitchen (as per plan it will have a sibling very soon) and a pepped up a RTW T-shirt with the one of the coolest pattern I ever found -

Olyan gyakran nem kapcsolom be mint a varrógépeket, de sok szép készül a hímzőgéppel is. A képnek reményeim szerint hamarosan lesz párja is, és egy készen vett pólóra az eddig talált egyik legkirályabb mintát hímeztem.

January Tally Up

I know it´s mid February but haven´t had much time for blogging lately. I was sewing more :)

These were the last ones for January, total stash usage 4.7m-s- Also used all of the 3m-s I bought extra for the carneval outfit of my son (which he almost didn´t want to wear at all but at least it probably fits him next year too).

I finished some grocery bags of scraps as well and a dress for myself for summer. The fabric choice for it could have been something lighter as the cotton sateen seems to be a little bit heavier than what the design would require. Anyway, I like it, I also like the fact I can close the lid of my scrap box.

 The dress itself is a Burda pattern 11/2011. The technically new part was the pleats in the front and back and the  double sleeves with rolled hems.

Tudom rég elmúlt már Január de nem sok időm volt mostanában blogolni, azt a keveset meg inkább varrással töltöttem. A jó hír, hogy 4.7m anyagot használtam a készletből, és mind a 3m-t megvarrtam amit ebben a hónapban vettem (jelmeznek). Utoljára készült még pár géppel hímzett bevásárlótáska a maradékokból, meg egy Burda ruha pamutszaténból. Talán egy kicsit könnyebb anyag volt eredetileg elképzelve, de elégedett vagyok az eredménnyel és technikailag 2 új dolog is bejött - az elején/hátán a hajtások és a dupla ujja aminek az alját interlock-kal szegtem el (rolled hem az öltés neve).

First Makes of January

The actual theme for January is organizing stash but I just don´t feel like it. I did some cleanup in my sewing corner and keep my iron in the box since the cleaning lady dropped it (my fault, left it on the stand which is not very stable. Actually she made me a favor by creating the need to buy a new one as I hated the one that broke.)

Since December didn´t really go as I planned I was ready for something easy and quick. Came up with 2 T-shirt from patterns I used a million times already. Busted 2m-s of stash total. More to come as I´ll be on holiday for the rest of the week and kids will be in daycare/kindergarten.

A januári téma rendszerezés, amihez nagyon nincs most kedvem. Kicsit pakoltam a varrósarkomban, a vasalót a dobozában tartom már (a takinéni leverte, mert a vasalóállványon tartottam, de igazán nagy szívességet tett mert kellett vennem egy újat és a régit utáltam).

Szóval varrtam 2 egyszerűt, olyan mintákból amiket már sokszor használtam, így a gyors megvalósítás garantált volt.

Még lesznek dolgok, szabin vagyok a hét hátralevő részében és a lurkók meg oviban/bölcsiben lesznek.

December Wrap Up

The whole month was a bit screwed as all members of my family got sick in some form one after the other (including myself).

Result was a bunch of sleepless nights and being tired most of the time. So my sewing plans were totally screwed and managed to do only a few things. I even had to cheat a bit as most of the stuff got completed 1st week of January as I just didn´t have the power.

So I made a dress with matching pants for Young Lady and cloud pillows for both. The pillows are totally self patterned, self stuffed and self stitched (my embroidery machine helped a bit) That´s it other these little things.

Na, nem lett több időm varrni tavaly, ami elkészült még az kicsit csalva számít csak - január első hetében lett minden kész, mert már nem maradt december végén erőm párnát tömni, meg hímzőgépet állítgatni meg ilyenek. A múltkoriakon kívül lett így egy ruha+nadrág kombó Kisasszonynak, meg felhőpárnák mindkét utódnak. A párnák teljes egészében saját kezűleg készültek (beleértve a belső párnát is, meg a hímzést meg a mintát meg mindent). Összesen 6.6m anyag a decemberi teljesítmény.

No Pink

We had an agreement NOT to buy or accept any pink clothes for our daughter as a denial of conformism. I hate that most girlie stuff come in pink. I look around and all girls are dressed in different shades of it. My kid will not as long as she cannot express her will I´m taking care of her clothing anyway. So if I buy stuff I´m doomed to buy boy stuff (as these for sure are not coming in pink) and make it girlie. I do buy very simple and plain stuff so I have a lot of room for changes. A bit of machine embroidery here, iron-on motifs there and I have 3pcs of non pink but girlie tees for my little one - 

Megegyeztünk még Ketteske születése előtt hogy amíg nem lesz szín preferenciája nem veszünk és fogadunk el rózsaszín dolgokat. Nem szeretem hogy az összes kislány rózsaszínben jár, tök egyformák. Ezért aztán néha kreatívnak kell lennem, de nem olyan nehéz mint az elején tűnt. Kicsi hímzés itt, rávasalás ott és kész is a nem rózsaszín de lányos felső Ketteskének. Szigorúan kisfiúknak szánt felsőkből (még a címkén is repülőgép van). Csak arra szoktam figyelni, hogy minta nélküli dolgokat vegyek, mert azokat könnyű alakítani.

Back Again to Stitching

Easter is gone but I had a UFO for many years - a piece of fabric which I finished with bias binding and meant to do some cross-stitching for X-mas. Started a few things but liked none of them - ended up removing the stitches and looking at it many times in my stash.

Now time came to finish it with machine embroidery. Was a bit late for this year Easter but never mind.

I also finished the chick picture which I´ve already shown. This one qualifies for scrap-busting as I used small scraps of fabric to frame it.

A Húsvét már elmúlt, de volt egy ferdepántos terítőm amit eredetileg kézzel szerettem volna hímezni (valamelyik Karácsonyra szegtem körbe, még évekkel ezelőtt). Valahogy egyik minta sem tetszett amit elkezdtem, mindet visszabontottam a végén. Most eljött az ideje géppel kihímezni. Alapjában elégedett vagyok, jövőre már hasznát is veszem majd.

A csibés képet is befejeztem (már mutattam ), apróbb anyagmaradékokkal kereteztem.

February Challenge #1

Something red for a cool prize.

How about a carneval costume? How about a firefighter costume? How about cool reflecting stripes and an embroidery? How about using some nice red cotton fabric? I only had to buy the reflecting stripes, all the rest was stash including the zipper and some leftover bias binding for the neck. I already used both of the patterns  (pants here, jacket here.) This time I skipped the hood and the lining for the jacket.

A februári téma nyereményért megy (van több is), valami piros legyen, mondták. Mi lenne ha jelmez lenne? Mi lenne ha tűzoltó jelmez lenne? Piros anyagból, fényvisszaverő csíkokkal meg minden. Ebben a legjobb az hogy csak a csíkokat kellett külön megvenni, a többi (a cipzár és a maradék ferdepánt a kabát nyakán is) készlet volt. Junior szereti, és ráfér a normál ruhájára, ami külön jó, mert errefelé a Farsang kinti tevékenység.

Managed to complete 2 more items this month - a blue towel and a sweatshirt. Both for Junior of course. The blue towel is made of a surprise package fabric. It was really a stripe that I cut in the middle and sewed it together to make a normal towel size. The whale is machine embroidered.

T-shirt is Ottobre 1/2013 pattern. I left off the cuffs and added a little tiger in the middle.

Total usage of January fabric with the maternity top is only 2.3m.

NO NEW PURCHASES! I also cancelled by Ottobre subscription for this year as I have enough kids stuff for now and being pregnant I´m very limited in stuff I can make for myself.

Ebben a hónapban sikerült még egy törölközőt meg egy pólót összehozni. Előbbi anyag egy meglepi csomagban volt, egy hosszú csík amit kettévágtam és a hosszanti oldalán összevarrtam. Kapott egy géppel hímzett bálnát is.

A póló 1/2013 Ottobre minta, elhagytam a mandzsettát és kapott egy tigrist hogy ne legyen unalmas.

Összesen 2.3m anyag ment el januárban a múltori pólóval együtt. NEM VETTEM SEMMI ÚJAT. (Hurrá). Sőt, az Ottobre előfizetésemet is lemondtam erre az évre, mert gyerek minta most van elég, magamnak meg nem nagyon fogok idén varrni.

X-Mas and Stuff

I haven´t been blogging for a while and it had its reason. At the end of the day I was just too tired to. Not a complaint, it´s simply how it is in the 1st 12 weeks :)
Prepared some stuff for a charity X-Mas market and made a sweatshirt for Junior which he loves. Other than these I haven´t switched my sewing machines on. Not for a second.
First trimester ends 31-Dec and I´m hoping my power returns. So, my blogging friends, until then have a wonderful X-Mas and a very happy new year.

Sokat pihen a varrógép (az összes) mostanában, be sem lettek kapcsolva az utolsó 4 hétben. Estére annyira elfáradtam hogy csak bedőltem az ágyba majdnem Juniorral egyidőben. Nem panaszképp mondom, ez már csak így van az első trimeszter végéig. Készült azért pár dolog a karácsonyi céges jótékonysági vásárra, meg egy pingvines pulcsi Juniornak.
Az első trimeszte hivatalosan véget ér dec. 31-én, amikor elvileg visszatér belém az Erő. Addig is kedves blogoló barátaim, kellemes ünnepeket kívánok!
